I’m a city kid who grew up in West Virginia, which seems like an oxymoron, but I had a paper route as a youngster. We lived closer to Pittsburgh than we did the capitol in Charleston, WV. We didn’t hunt and we didn’t own land, and unbeknownst to me, I had been born and bred in a place called Appalachia. I had no idea of the word, or it’s connotations, but it seems I’ve always hovered around “it” in places like Western, PA and Appomattox, VA and Eastern Ohio along the Ohio River. I’ve only recently realized that I’ve never left those rolling hills, I just keep circling them looking for a place to land.

I believe in function: comfortable ergonomics and ease of use are important to me. I want my pots to be used, whether for coffee with an old friend or a quiet drink at the end of a long day. The reality often, however is that these pots find their way to a display shelf and serve a different function: Beauty in the lives of the owners.
But I am happy no matter the function of the work.
The intention in making certainly comes from both places in my heart as a maker.
Beautifully physical.

Currently I’m living and working in Eastern OH.
